Alabama is now our Sweet Home

In 2023 our beautiful grand daughter was born.  Meet Eisley Hannelore Kieffer.  She will be 2 in March and we are just over the moon.

After meeting her in person,  Pete and I knew we wanted to be close to watch her grow up.

So we put our house up for sale! Yep, purge, clean, stage nd bam!!! Well not bam so much....9 mos later we finally sold the house. Our house was beautiful, but it was a tough market that year.  When the house finally sold in May 2024. We purged all we could and my Sister's in Stitches helped me pack everything in 2 weeks. We put it all in storage and left Happy Valley Oregon.

I will miss the Pacific North West but most of all, will miss the many friends I made in the quilting community.  So shout out to my Sister's in Stitches, Thea at the Quilter's Delight Crew, Busy Bees Quilt Group and Peace Maker's Friendship group.  So many wonderful friends and memories.  I miss you all a ton!

So in May of 2024, we drove 3 days with our dog Dudley in tow, crossed 11 states to North Alabama. We rented a few AirBNB, saw way too many houses.  We finally found the perfect house only 3 miles from my husband's daughter Summer, her husband Matt and Lil Miss Eisley.  Summer and Matt are both amazing artists and Eisley is a little dear.

So the first week in November we moved into our 1960's ranch style house. Pete has a new job at Finditparts.com and we are both working from home!  We have unpacked all the boxes (mostly quilt stuff, not kidding) with a lot of help from Mom, she is amazing! So many of the boxes had little notes from my friends, which meant so much to me and even some for Pete. He says he does NOT have too many shoes, Keri. Seriously, you are all amazing and I would have fallen apart without your help.

The Holidays were super fun and we got to spend Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years with Matt and Summer, Matt's Mom, Monika and Auntie Candy Cane and of course Lil Miss Eisley.

I think we brought the snow this January, your welcome!  Looks at this beautiful little snow baby!  I just love this kid, she is kind, funny and smart. The doting is just getting started ;]

My focus is now is to find a church, where we all feel comfortable, so would appreciate prayers from all prayer warriors. I thank God for His Grace and Mercy and for providing for us every day through our crazy journey and ask the Lord to bless and keep all of you who read this.

Mom and I read the whole bible in 2024 with BibleRecap with Tara Lee Cobble, I highly recommend! What an amazing experience and I plan to continue learning and possibly do it again next year.

Getting Back to Quilting

I am all set up now and ready to start quilting....Ready..go!  Truth be told, it is taking a little bit to get up the gumption. Had to say it just for Keri.

Have been working on this one over the 6 mos and opted to hand applique rather than machine applique like the pattern suggested, ha!

The pattern is Orange Pekoe by Beverly McCullough. Fabric line is Afternoon Tea by Beverly for Riley Blake.  I got to see her lecture and trunk show at the Tennessee Valley Quilters Association Assembly Day.

I love her designs, she takes traditional designs and adds a modern touch. Check her out on Flamingo Toes  https://flamingotoes.com

Quilting mom's quilt for my nephews wedding end of March. Then onto this one.  Will post soon!

I have been visiting local shops over the last 9 months.  But last night, I finally went to visit a local quilt group, The Rocket City Modern Quilters Guild.  They were very welcoming, with new and experienced quilters about 30 members. Had a very nice evening and met some lovely people.  They are very active with shop hops and sew alongs and I am looking forward to joining.

I know I have not posted in a while, mostly since I started posting on Instagram but I thought it would be good to start up again and add some design tips and funny stories along the way.

Love to all and I hope you get to sew today!

Love Aunti Nicole or Mémé
