Welcome baby Joey!

This might be the sweetest picture I've seen in a long time!  Look at this darling little bunny in his Easter outfit!  Not sure who made that outfit but its precious!

Congratulations to Joe, Stephanie and Nonnie Debbie.

I made up a quilt to welcome little Joey into the world.  

The quilt in the background is the back of a disappearing 9-patch in teeny woodland creatures flannels.   

Disappearing or split 9 patch.  This a great design if you have 3 or 4 fabrics but not sure what to do with them.  

Create blocks of 9 patches, I like to make the most contrasting fabric the center square.

Then cut the block into 4.  Turn and sew back together.  No pattern needed really.

This one was with 4.5" squares.  made 20 blocks.  End quilt 48x60

  You can look on Pinterest and see so many ways to put it together.

The Silver in my Rainbow

A few years back my niece Patience made a rainbow strata from strips of bright fabrics.  So last night I used Julie Herman's Circle Around from Jaybird Quilts once again and whipped this up.  At this rate it should be finished and ready to take with her to USC.

She has just graduated from Immaculate Heart in LA and will be starting USC in the fall.  I am so proud of her and want to give her something to remember her Anicole, as she calls me.   Its not like she'll be far from me but way too busy I'm sure. 

 

WillieNo! helped of course.  He said "See gray is an important part of the rainbow".  I said "Ok thanks for the lesson thats very nice, now Git Down!"

Showcase your Favorite Fabrics

I had this Cardinal fabric that was given to me by EZ Quilter Sandra Usher.  I just could not bring myself to cut up the pretty little cardinals so I decided to showcase them.  This started out to be a Christmas tree skirt but I got the lazies and just finished them as individuals.  Now they nicely fill an empty wall. 

"But its Christmas fabric!", you say.  I say "So?!"

Good comback huh?

Dots that Circle Around

My friend Julie Herman http://www.jaybirdquilts.com/ was just selected for the cover of Quilts and More Magazine with this pattern Circle Around. I had to be one of the first to use her pattern. This was a really fun quilt to make and went together quickly. She even has a kit on her site http://shop.jaybirdquilts.com/

I used a fat quarter bundle, Moda Shangri-La by 3 Sisters, a gift from Natalie at Beyond the Reef.  I  added some white on white dots and some blue on white dots. I didn't spend much time arranging as I usually would but I didn't want to over think it (that usually takes the easy right out of it, doesn't it). But it was fun and fast! Thanks Jaybird!
